![]() ![]() Daniel’s interests in writing music are seemingly limitless as he has explored many different folk traditions in his compositions along with the genres of dubstep, glitch, pop, and modern classical music. As a composer he has worked with many ensembles including the St. Daniel has taught all age ranges and enjoys helping others find their passion in music no matter the genre. While at Southeast Missouri State University he studied piano pedagogy under Dr. Beyond being an active performer and composer, Daniel has considerable experience as a music instructor. 2 on the banjo, considerably expanding what audiences think of an often type-casted instrument. ![]() Furthermore, Daniel has arranged and performed Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C# minor Op. For example, his piece Perplexion fuses the styles of bluegrass, rag, jazz, and contemporary classical music. Banjo virtuoso Tony Trischka has described the piece as “totally impressive.” As a banjo player and composer, Daniel is always working on writing and arranging music to reinvent the instrument. His banjo concerto Ancient Echoes was showcased at the 2020 Mizzou International Composers Festival in which he performed banjo alongside the Mizzou New Music Ensemble. ![]() He has been featured as a banjo soloist and composer in various concerts and recitals at the University of Missouri, Southeast Missouri University, and East Central College. During his time at the University of Missouri he was the pianist of the Mizzou New Music Ensemble in addition to being an audio-visual editor for the Mizzou New Music Initiative. Daniel is also a versatile instrumentalist playing piano, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and trumpet. He holds a Master’s degree in music composition from the University of Missouri in addition to a Bachelor’s of music composition from Southeast Missouri State University. While in Columbia, Jack has worked with many area and national acts across a wide range of styles, including local punk-rock-soul revue "The Record Collector", as well as internationally renowned soul recording artist Roy C. Jack moved to the Columbia area in the summer of 2005, and began teaching at Palen Music starting in 2007. Continuing to play professionally in Boston while in school, Jack was able to appear with smooth jazz impresario Walter Beasley, as well as play as a supporting act for hip-hop legends Talib Kweli and Common. Opting to take advantage of Berklee 's renowned Music Production and Engineering program and facilities, Jack graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in that field, studying under, among others, Bill Scheniman, most notably credited with engineering Bruce Springsteen's legendary "Born To Run" album. While at Berklee, Jack studied saxophone with professors Dino Govoni and George Garzone, music theory and composition with National Endowment for the Arts recipient Steve Rochinski, and was fortunate enough to study with Grammy Award-winning tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano for an entire year as part of the "Artist in Residence" series produced by Berklee. Upon qualifying for financial aid through the Berklee World Scholarship Tour, he began his studies at that renowned university during the fall of 2000.
